Naivasha weekend getaway


If you have a couple of friends and you want to plan a weekend getaway for some fun, camping and hiking, Naivasha is the place to be! Visit the amazing attractions in Naivasha like the Hell’s Gate National Park, the youngest lake in Kenya-Lake Oloiden not forgetting the 6m-deep fresh water lake, lake Naivasha. Below is a well detailed itinerary for you:

Day 1: Nairobi to Naivasha 

You will be picked up at your place of convenience early in the morning to depart for Naivasha. It is roughly 96km from Nairobi. It’s a smooth drive into the Rift Valley and as you enjoy the amazing spectacle of the Great Rift Valley lakes like Naivasha which you will view from the comfort of your car. You will arrive at your hotel in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will refresh and relax as you enjoy the facilities of the hotel like the pool,spa and jacuzzi.

Spend the night at Peppercorn, Eseriani, Lake Naivasha Country club or somewhere similar.

Day 2: Hell's Gate National Park 

After having breakfast, we head for the Hell’s Gate National Park  for a trek .The National Park is known for its spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam. It is an ideal venue for mountaineering, rock climbing and hiking.

After a good trek into the Hell’s kitchen and bedroom you can have lunch at the hotel and then head to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride.The lake is known to have more than 360 different bird species and is home to various types of wildlife including a sizeable population of hippos. The fish species in the lake has been highly variable over time, influenced by changes in climate, human activities and the introduction of invasive species.

After the amazing lake experience you will go back to your hotel for overnight and dinner.

Day 3:  Lake Oloide 

After taking breakfast, you will depart to Lake Oloiden,the youngest lake in Kenya. It is also known as the Crater Lake which is just 30km from Lake Naivasha. The alkaline lake has neither a surface inlet nor an outlet. Instead it sources its water from the underground Alkaria river. After having an awesome time at Lake Oloiden, you will go back to the hotel for lunch and check out. After checking out you will embark on your journey back to Nairobi.

Other activities at Lake Naivasha include bicycle riding, horse riding, camping, team building.
